Lastly.

My last day of freedom in the outside world. Will be on standby duty in camp from 24th January 2006 till 31st January 2006.

Yes, I'll spend my New Year in camp. With all the people of 3Coy who dedicated our freedom to the nation, so that the nation may have a safe festive period.

Nonsense la. Not to wei3 da4 la. Talking thrash.

Yeah, will update when I next come home. See ya peeps..

Happy New Year!!

Prata Outing.

Supposed to read Casuarina Rd

Where we had our pratas.

Prata outing at Casuarina. 7 of us where there for prata. Some early, some late. Talked a bit after the meal. Mostly about how fast it is before we are going to finish our service. But, time is still crawling! Haiz.. Mixed feelings now.

Group that went.
Where in the world we were exactly.

After prata, majority decided to go home. ZF, KH with his bicycle and me decided to stroll down Pierce Reservoir to check out if there's anybody making out. LOL. So, took a slow walk down.

Entrance to nature's trail 1

Entrance 2

Saw several cars zooming past us. All couples, both young and old. Heh, interesting. Another couple greeted us at the entrance of the carpark, smooching away. Strolled ard the park, saw several couples as well, engaging in some appreciation of nature session. Nth much to do, so we went home after that.

Dinner & Dance 2006

Dinner & Dance was at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Cocktail stared at 6.45pm. Although we were a little late, cos of the traffic conditions along the way, we managed to arrive b4 7pm. Upon arrival, we were greeted to all the well-dressed people for the night. Everybody was dressed up to the nines. Formal, smart casual, informal, you name it, I think we got it.

My assemble for the night, black shirt silver tie and jeans. With Chin Chun.

My detachment settled for a dress code of shirt and tie.

A photo taking frenzy before the dinner's even started. Everyone's looking for everyone to take photos. Well, a glimpse of what's happening..

Tai, me, Gimmi, Joseph.

Alex, Wei Chieh, Norman, me.

My trouble making BMT buddy, Simon!!

Oriental Wei Siong.

Informal Wei Chieh

Outside the ballroom.

What that greeted us upon entering. Lighting was not too good then.

Dinner officially started at 7+ coming to 8. We were treated to a short movie clip, part of a video showing us at all our different stages of training. From the shitty days as a recruit in BMT to a full-fledged operational soldier in the unit, the journey had been long and painful.

Prizes up for grabs in the lucky draw wasn't too bad. Some that is. Heh..

Well, the menu wasn't too bad. Typical dinner spread. Our very own band treated us to performances. Not professionals, but no doubt the very best effort by them to keep us entertained. Host for the night was by the name of Jeffery. Lame, cold, corny blah blah blah. The norm lor. Played some crappy games also. Good for laughs la. Mai hiam buay pai.

More photo taking inside the ballroom during dinner.

My good friend Kai Xiang.

A very faded Ernie. D&D Exco Committee mah.

Signal course friends. Too many cameras, don't know look where.

Had a mini talent time, singing competition. 2 distinct categories were present, namely the POSERs and the REAL talent. Of course, it was won by Edmund, who is really really good.

Lucky draw was the highlight of all dinner & dance I supposed. Luck was not on my side as I came home empty handed. Although the black 2GB iPod Nano 1st prize was really attractive.

Won by some very lousy person with the most unglamorous CV and record. Everyone's feeling very sucky after he was revealed as the 1st prize winner. Sour grapes? Nah, I choose not to think so. :P

Dinner ended with the showcase of the remainder of the video. Documenting the entire journey by the company to this stage before we ORD, Feelings were mixed. The joy of freedom, the grief of leaving each other. *Eh, sounds a bit gay leh. (",)*

Took a bit more photos after the dinner ended.

Daryl. Blur picture though.

Decided to go chill out with my detachment at Clarke Quay. Decided on Cafe Iguana at the Riverside Point. Took cab to Liang Court.

However, realizing that it was full, we went to Brewerks next door.

Much to our surprise, the staff told us it is already time for the last order for drinks le. And it is only slightly after 12! No choice, we had a beer tower only. The Golden Ale wasn't too bad. Not much after-taste. Talked crap till ard 1+ before heading to t.c.c. opposite the river. Met up with the rest of the guys. Took some random shots along the way.

The signature dolls outside the museum.

From there, it is Home Sweet Home.

NKF??

A NKF Saga in our very own 3rd Company? LOL.. Well, it seems like it is possible. Judging from the things that are happening.

Well, having place our orders for our very own stiletto (ladies, it's not the heels. A stiletto is a long, narrow-bladed dagger) some time very long back then, some of us gave a down payment for the order. Having waited for so darn long, we had even forgotten that we ever ordered. Since ORD is nearing, the issue is being brought up now.

Guess what?! The money that was collect back then, is M.I.S.S.I.N.G! The entire sum, gone, together with the supposed order. Well, the liaison person was the ex company clerk(lets call him S). You see, S always try to do more than he can handle, and in turn, complain how shag his work load is. Anyway, lets just say he is not the most popular guy in company.

Ya, so now, wanting to follow up the orders, we had to pay either 80 or 100, depending on the box that you are getting. Thinking that the 30 dollars paid back then will offset the total amount, imagine the shock and horror we got when we were told the money is no where to be found.

"Mr S!! Where is our money?!" *T T Durai in the making?*

F.Y.I. this Friday, 20/01, is the Dinner & Dance for the entire 3rd Company corhort of enlistees.

Not just that, having promised the band performing on D&D that a sum of money was allocated for the rental of equipments, the money is no longer available. Causing some tension and thingy going on. What will happen in the days to come?

Stay tuned to the saga!!

A wet day again.

Booked out last nitez. Came home after 2 days in camp. Helped 6th Coy with their sand model on Mon for their assault course in Atec Stage 1. Not much to do coz they are self-sufficient. Juz provided some pointers to them. Not much happening on Tues. Booked out at night lor. Damn shag when I arrived home. Muz be the late nights in camp. And the lack of afternoon naps. LOL..

We out shopping awhile today. Went Orchard. Got myself a tie. Dinner was at Swensen's. Not much complain for the dinner. Walked ard town a bit, before heading home.

I think gaming has taken up too much a part of my late nights. Hmm, should cut down a bit le. Damaging to health also. Heh..

Dinner n Dance is this Friday. 1 big gay night. Nobody's gonna bring any date. So, heh, well update u ppl again on how chui it is. LOL... So long..

Tired.

Bought a new pair of shoes today. Bought a CD also.

TV is spoilt.

Other than that, nothing extraordinary.

Tired.

Till then..

It's the last!!

Came home this morning. Yeah, had the last live firing of my NSF service term. Hopefully it is really the last. Surprisingly, it was dry for the earlier part of yesterday. The sun was shining, the wind blowing, birds flying etc. Super duper nice weather for live firing. Though it was hot, none of us mind coz we were scared of the possibility of having to come back on another wk end juz for this wretched live firing.

Yeah, it is always a chore. Having to prep the stores n barang, waking up super early, rush to finish the firing. Very chaotic de. BUT!! Yesterday, the day shoot went amazingly good, none had to reshoot. Rain came in the evening. Being the last, everybody wanted to get it over and done with. Everything in the night was swiftly executed. Although having to reshoot due to cock ups, we managed to finish the whole thing ard 9pm. LOL. Arrived back camp at ard 11. Gosh! That was a remarkable effort. Considering those previous times whereby we will only be back at 1 or 2am earliest. Not bad, for the last time.

Supper in the form of McDonald's. Slept a little b4 coming home. Ya, that's about all for the week.

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

It was a unique outing.

Well, I went fishing for prawns today. It was with my detachment. Organized by David. Before even arriving, the signs don't look good.

1st, it started to rain when we first make our way there.
2nd, we had to take a long long walk to the farm, machiam route march, but in the rain.

3rd, it looks like it is eons old.

LOL.. Well, since we prep the stuffs le, no choice but to play lor. Rented the rods and started prawning. With no help from the heavens at all, the rain fell relentlessly on us.

It even got heavier. Drenched from top to toe, and having caught less than 3 prawns, morale was at the rock bottom.

After the slow start, the real action began. Already wet, we couldn't care less liao, we tried means and ways to fish the prawns. Success came our way slowly. Despite our best efforts, success was slow to us.

At the end of the 2 hours, we had less than 20 prawns. Yes, it was very lousy of us, but considering it was our first time, I think we were not too bad? We had some very big catch as well! LOL *trying to console ourselves*

As the sky was clearing up a bit, we decided it was time to prepare the wet pit for bbq. Charcoal was brought out, gauze laid, fire starters lit. In the split of an eye, the clouds gathered and rain fell. Raining harder than previously, we had a hard time. With a giant umbrella shelter over the pit, the pathetic bbq began. Live prawns were skewered and bbq live. It was not a pleasant sight at all. For those of you who know me, I don't take prawns. So, I just stood aside while they carried on. Plans were made quickly for dinner. Once the skies cleared for the 2nd time, we made our way home.

Overall, not too bad an experience. I feel that if not for the weather, this outing could have been much better.

We decided to have dinner at Manhattan Fish Market. Yes, again for me. Just been there last Sat. There were only now 5 from the original 8 earlier on. The 3 had other plans. Dinner was 2xPlatter for 2 & 1 Fish & Chips. Walked down PS to Taka cos 1 of them wana check out a book from Kinokuniya. Loiter ard for a while before heading to Haagen Dazs for ice cream. Fulfilling a promise made to us from don't know when, the bill for our ice cream was footed by YH. Trust me, 5 ice cream desserts' not cheap. Thx YH!! :P

Home sweet home then. Slept less than 3 hrs today. And the stupid parade this morning, I'm very shag now le. Gonna zzz le.. Heh..

Sunday, January 08, 2006

It was nice.

Yeah, dinner was at Manhattan Fish Market at Plaza Singapure. The experience wasn't too bad, considering it was my 1st time there. Staff was warm and friendly. Atmosphere was lively. Food was good, compared to CA. Don't you agree? Met YH and his friend there also. They were going for movie.

After dinner, took a long and leisure walk down Orchard Rd. Arrived at Far East Plaza after the long walk in the drizzle. Wasn't too wet, so we were not drenched. The crowd wasn't as bad. Perhaps due to the rain? Or all went clubbing? Heh, anyway, window shopped at Far East before heading down to Raffles Place. Passing by Boat Quay, the crowd is sparse there. Not sure what happened, but the place seem to have lost its lively nature. All was quiet. Had coffee in t.c.c. at Clarke Quay.

Relaxed by the river, talked crap, basked in the cool night breeze while sipping our drinks. Went to check out the hottest club now, MOS. The queue was barely moving. Talk about being the hottest. Indeed. :P Headed home after that. Looking forward to the next outing.

It was a wet day no doubt. But it did not dampen one bit the fun we had.

Surprise.

Well, booked in back to camp on Wed night. After a period of rest and relaxation at home, going back camp was such a torture. Not to mention, my already screwed up sleeping cycle. Can barely sleep at night, resulting in me making up majority of the sleep in the day. LOL.

Yeah, took IPPT again today (technically, its yest.) with some surprising results. Heh, shall spare you people the agony of the minute details. Results wasn't too bad. That's all I can say. Monday is suppose to be an off-in-lieu for the Thursday that we went back for IMT. BUT!! Of all days, there has got to be a parade on Mon! WTF?! So, have to book in just to attend a stupid parade. Zzz..

Well, it was nice catching up with all my friends back camp. Listening to all the interesting happenings that they encountered. Am sure gonna miss this bunch of guys when March/April arrives.

Ending.

Went out with several of my friends. 8 of them to be exact. Watched A Chinese Tall Story. Heh, it was damn crap. Totally screwed up story of Journey to The West. I think the original author will turn in his grave if he saw this. LOL. However, despite sitting in the 2nd row from the front, the hilarious story line and acting did make up for the lousy seats. Well, can go catch show if u want a good laugh. DO NOT be too critical or you will waste your money. :P

Yeah, movie was followed by dinner of course. Went from PS to Orchard. Finally settled for dinner at N.Y.D.C. at Wheelock Place. Well, all 9 of us had pasta. Chilled out at Starbucks at Liat Towers. Literally chill-ed out coz the aircon was really cold. Kinda gossip a little, heh, yes, all 9 of us were guys. TF n Clemz came to meet up for awhile after they were done with their matters. After that, it is home sweet home. Overall, not a bad outing. The mood was casual and there were no "silent" moments. So, a success? Haha..

Erm, well, gotta book in later the day le. Kinda sad my break is ending. Kinda underwent the Civilian Conversion Course le. More of such courses to come. The more the merrier. *cheers*

It's all about the hand

Juz caught Jurassic Park 3 on tv. Again. Yes, I have the vcd, but I just need to watch again. Haha. The scene that caught my attention, the battle between the T-Rex and the Spinosaurous(?). T-Rex lost because he has no arms! He was caught by the Spino, neck twisted aside. And if you people watched King Kong, realised how Kong ripped apart the V-Rexes?? With his hands. Haha. So there you have it, hands are important people. Even in the animal kingdom. You can do wonders. Lol.

Well, am off for some shopping later the day. And movie and dinner with my friends. So, shall slp early tonight. Tata..

I want the sun.

The weather is very wet these few days. Thought I can finally see the sun today. But it was short-lived. A couple of hours of sunshine was followed by another pouring rain. Zzz.. Actually I thought the clouds are nice. I mean during the formation of rain clouds. There is some sort of uneasy calmness when you see them form. Erm, don't know if you guys know what am I talking about. :P

Anyway, my break is coming to an end soon le. Booking in on Wednesday. Arrgh!! Time always seem to fly by when you are enjoying yourself.

Your estimated Service Balance is 104.
Your projected ORD date is 09-Apr-2006.

Waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

It is 2006!

Well people, it is 2006 already! Happy New Year to you all!!

The start of a new year always begin with your resolutions for the year. Mine? Hmm.. Have not really thought of it yet. But am hoping time will fly very fast? Then I can finish my 2yr 4mths of "voluntary" service to the nation.

National Service is a love-hate relationship for me. On 1 hand I can't wait to finish it, on the other I can bear to leave behind the memories that I have. I've been really lucky to experience the side of NS that most people don't get to cos of my vocation. All was not smooth going from the start. Really went through a lot with this bunch of guys. All the blood, sweat, tears etc. You name it, I think we got it :P.

From the original 240+ strength to the 3 Coy we have today, is by far means no small feat. From the most junior Coy in the ATEC Evaluation to the honour of being crowned the Best Operational Company in 1 Cdo Bn, I salute everybody that played his role for making all these possible.

One can help but feel happy yet sad as the Day creep nearer everyday.

Yeah, so there you have it. My first post of the year. I do not have any clear resolutions yet. How about you?

What is your resolutions for 2006?
