In the real world, nothing is always 50/50. That would have overly simplified many issues. But on another hand, it does make things easier when everything else seems complex. And sometimes grabbing your chance at a pseudo 50% success somewhat instilled a false sense of confidence, tricking your mind into believing that everything is a little better. No regret.
