A lttle unfortunate; but it is almost goodbye..

A series of unfortunate events meant that the trip was disrupted after Niagara Falls. Putting it bluntly I didn't get to visit the Big Apple nor DC. The plan to watch Phantom of the Opera at Broadway was dashed; and the somewhat geeky visits to the museums in DC got postponed indefinitely as well. Oh well. I guess there's always another time to come back again, and I'm making sure it won't be another 19 years. Photos from the phone to take us through as I prepare for the return trip back to reality.

Touching down, not knowing the perils that laid ahead.
It really is a lot more sinful here.
Love the vast expanse of skies here.
That really quaint looking BnB beside our first hotel.
Fueling the stomach with selfmade waffles at hotel's breakfast bar.
When one's a tourist,
one's gotta queue.
And when the queuing gets too long,
one take pictures of people behind him,
and the Rainbow bridge, a la the Causeway.
The American Falls only served as a warm up to what was to come.
19 years on I'm still trying to find the magic in the mist,
while attempting a futile effort keeping my gadget dry while taking the video.
Flying high and wet.
Before long disaster struck and I hitched my first ever ride in an ambulance to the ER.

What followed was a week of hospital visitation and watching someone undergo a surgery to fix a fractured tibia. Which also meant that the rest of our trip was canned. And what better time to be down with the nastiest cold of the year. Also gave us the unwanted pleasure of extending our stay in a pretty boring region. So we went shopping.

Spot the Singaporean driver on his way for buffalo wings.
Not too bad really.
The really sinful onion at Outback Steakhouse.
Steak.
Tell me what is Singapore noodles.
And this was the answer I got.
Irony.
Attempt in finding non western food ended up with a plate of rice with super giam beef. :(
The second hotel we moved to after extending.
And the view from our room.
Went to Cheesecake Factory
Am glad I stopped myself from ordering this
Boys and
their toys.
Combating late night hunger.
Just had to have the deadly tv dinner while we are here in the land of microwave food.
The last sunset in Niagara Falls
was over
before some
even noticed.
Picked up like a boss from Niagara to Newark.
Not exactly the best moment to be in a limo, but I'll take that.
And the extra legroom was more than welcome, made the 6 hour ride a little more bearable.
Goodbye New York, we WILL meet again.
Meanwhile back in Austin Texas, we got roasted again under the hot dry sky.
You know the heat is very real when this is all you see in the skies.
And what better way to combat the heat with.
Honestly how do you expect your people to be healthy?
Oh hell, there's always room for meat whatever the heat outside is.
Even Vietnamese food here is supersized
Actually the primary objective was shopping; the touring was secondary.. ROFL
One of the many useless stuff that I bought.

Thankfully the clouds came,
like marshmallows
Indeed it was a boring commute.
I will really miss the vast sky and sunsets.
It was cooling and the clouds were somewhat mesmerising, but thunderstorm is such a hazard when driving...
The quiet neighbourhood.
Here everything's better
The first and only non-breakfast meal at the golden arches
after all the traveling.
And of course we had to have pancakes
If imitation is the highest form of compliment,
That dodgey looking Chinese restaunrant
that actually served a very mean meal. Read:not overly salty food like everywhere else.
In the land of burgers and steak, it felt weird holding a pair of these.
Even the fortune cookie knows.... that I don't eat crustacean, by choice.
The days spent here, what impressed me the most has gotta be the how clean the restrooms are. We really need to learn how to properly pee.
Vader is watching, no matter what..
