Road trip up north; Truly Asia.

Hmm, where do I even start? The part that we were almost stranded? Or that long delay prior? Ahhh. Yes. Bad being an understatement, we had the experience of a lifetime in our mode of transportation.

All began with the radiator of the car becoming overheated prior to us setting off. And if that is not bad enough, the air conditioning was working for only 5 min at a time. Talk about a series of unfortunate events, that was just the beginning. Made do with whatever that came our way, the shit; pee; palm trees; cattle; whatnots; of smells that came flying in, invited of course by the windows that we had rolled down. Not something you get back home everyday, so we were glad for that pleasant experience. #sarcasm.

The first pit stop for ice cream to cool the temperatures, and temper.
The second, for hunger. You know you are very hungry when you got all excited at the sight of McDonald's. Very.
Never had been this glad to finally arrive at a destination, and more importantly, AIR CONDITIONING.
The very decent room for about $45 a night.
And the awesome rain shower that I spend a long time under every time I wash up.

Woke up hungry the next day, and to this at 0643h in the morning.

The breakfast, can't complain about it for the price of the stay.
Came back to a very hot day ahead after filling the stomach.

Beach front plot of land; perfect for condominiums?
Came the search for chicken rice balls, under the cruel sun

Had the best sio bak this year, here.
Jonker street,
Gave me a feeling of Chinatown for its CNY decorations.
Erm.:)

Went shopping, indoor archery, bowling and played the arcade too. Had a much welcomed siesta back in the room before the dinner.

Sat so close to the family table that it shocked us all. Lol.

The lovely couple.

Over zealous relatives resulted in some major alcohol induced concussion on the bed after dinner.

Enormous effort to get up for the PT session the next morning.
Bestest road trip snack.
Got fined for 30, but he collected only 10. Whatever goes.
Had to have A&W for old times' sake.
The same predicament for the return drive. And yes even a Proton is laughing at us in the face if you can read what's on the number plate. Anything with air-con won us already.
The emptiness that you don't get back home. Good for once in a while.
Really bright and aa shoes.
_|_(+_+)_|_ Brightstar Car Rental _|_(+_+)_|_. When FUCK YOU is overly courteous. Faith in Singaporeans restored when that kind sir asked if we needed a lift back to Sg upon seeing the predicament that we were in.
Just glad to be on the move again.

After all, this is what a road trip is about. The hiccups that come your way, events that will still have us talking about ten years down the road. The firsts that I've experienced, pushing a car and having the car died on me without warning. We may not remember whose wedding dinner we attended, but we will definitely remember making our way up north for a road trip. HAHA. If you are reading this TL, I'm only joking la. Of course we remember your wedding leh.

Looking forward to the next one. Any takers? ROFL.

Woah!

Wow! Really. The memories of that era. So many of them, the Sentosa ferry terminal; Orchard road, the time whereby the mrt is a novelty of sorts; those buses; and how empty the streets were compared to now. Changi airport was the coolest destination in the east together with the must-go Swensen's restaurant tucked right at the end of the gallery. And how can we miss out the mandatory photo at that fountain thingy in T1 which has since been replaced after the latest revamp. The price we pay for progress and development.

If you are on instragram, do check this profile out, Twelvestones. Chanced upon it one night while I was uploading and checking out some hashtags. Congratulated him on winning the #only_grayscale challenge and told him his pictures reminded me that despite the rapid pace of development and changes in the country, it is still such a beautiful place that we've seemed to neglect with all the recent socio-political issues.

Sometimes all we needed to do was to slow down just a little and look up, instead of hanging our head on our chest all the time.

A little change sometimes, is good. Like now.

Looking like something that came out of a Hollywood production I can't imagine if it were to hit here.

Coming and going

It didn't feel like the lunar new year, perhaps it was due to the rain everyday. But anyway.

I was clearing up before the new year and came across some rather ancient looking stuff.

When I was 18, foolish and ready to take on the world(?). Roflmao.

And then there are food..

They call this green tea...

Lunch with Group 5 in Little India, going on strong since that fateful day in 2006.

A grand total of 5 pineapple tarts, that's all. Consumed no other snacks, cross my heart.

Another step closer to realising the iMac, following the MBP of 2011.

Randoms along the way..

One of the nicest stretch to drive along at sunset.

A different reunion dinner.

Solving logarithmic quadratic equations at 1am, one night. Struggled to remember.
The ancient phone that always got to our nerves trying to contact him, #friends.

A really dark morning one day.

The larger right foot, and with Morton's toes.
I can't really put into words how I felt about that conversation. #life.
